Hey guys, welcome
back. It’s been a while bit it’s good to be back here. Today we are would be taking
a look on how to upgrade Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 to the latest operating
system, the Lollipop. I observed most people making use of the Samsung Galaxy
S4 GT-I9500 are still stuck on KitKat so I decided to put this up. It is the
official update and you do not need to panic but you have to follow my step by
step procedure as this would enable you has to not get into some few problems
with your device. Like I said, it’s something I have done already, on a couple
of S4s so am really sure of what I am saying.
This update has
been around for some time now. If you have not gotten the update on your phone,
this is basically for you, I guess the update is not yet available for the
region but it is available for the phone.
There is no need
to panic as it is an official firmware.
This update is
only for the Samsung Galaxy S4 GT –I9500, please confirm that this is the model
of your phone before proceeding.
·
First
of all you need to do a system backup. If you have Kies, then you could back up
your Contacts, Messages, Gallery and a few others. You would see those stuffs
you could backup when you are about to do the backup.
Or
you could make use of any custom recovery to backup all off your data.
·
As
usual, you need to enable debugging on your phone.
Ø
Settings-More-
Developer Options – USB Debugging
Ø
For
those of you who can’t find Developer Options there, you need to go under About
Device and tap the Build number about 3 times. That would make it pop up.
·
Now,
you have to download the Lollipop update from the link below. It is

The
download link is this
Ø
Just
one thing, you have to have an account with SamMobile before you can be able to
download it.

you need to download Odin which is about 400kb and also Samsung USB Driver
which is about 15mb. Preferably version 3.09
Once those are
downloaded, you can now proceed.

of all, you need to install the Samsung Usb drivers and Odin. Also extract the I9500XXUHOA7
file to maybe your desktop or anywhere for easy accessibility.
(Note
if you have always been using your phone with your laptop via the cable, you do
not need to download the Usb driver again).
·
Now
turn off your phone
·
Boot
the phone in Download Mode which is by pressing the Power Button + home button
+ Volume down button.
·
Now
Open and launch Odin3 v3.09 on your computer
·
Connect
your phone to your pc using the USB Cable
·
Wait
for Odin to detect your phone
·
Make
sure that ‘Re-Partition’ option is disabled (Un-tick it if it is ticked)
·
Do
not tamper with other settings
·
Click
on AP Odin option.
You
select the AP labelled file.
·
You
click on the BL option.
You
select the BL labelled file.
·
You
click on the CP option.
You
select the CP labelled file.
·
You
click on the CSC option.
You
select the CSC labelled file
·
After
you have loaded every file, you then click on START to proceed.
·
After
the installation is complete, you wait until Odin says ‘PASS’ before
disconnecting your phone from PC.
·
The
first booting would take some minutes so you have to be patient.
If you observe
that you skipped a process while running this and the update does not go
according to plan, just remove your battery and start all over again.
I would advice
after the setup, you restart your phone.
Again, note, This
update is only for the Samsung Galaxy S4 model number GT –I9500, please confirm
that is the model of your phone before proceeding because I don’t think It
would work for any other phone.
