AMAZON NOW SHIPS DIRECTLY TO NIGERIA AND OTHERS

amazonglobal_mainglobe_bb_580-_v373842384_
The world’s biggest online retailer, Amazon, has decided to extend it’s tentacles to 75 more countries. It is doing so with its Amazon Global programme. This programme will enable international shoppers in 75 countries to order items from the online retail store and have them delivered directly to their home addresses.
The good news is that, 4 African countrieas – Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa are among the 75 countries.
I guess after seeing the success of the e-commerce industry in these countries, they decided as well that Africa is the best place to be.
In the list of good news, they stated that they would estimate the import fee deposit during checkout and provide customs clearance on customers behalf.
With Amazon’s tentacles now in Nigeria, let’s see what kind of game plan it would bring into the already established industry. With the likes of Jumia, Konga, Dealdey, Kaymu and so on in the game already, the gameplay would definitely change.
I must confess, the baby in my womb leaped for joy when I thought of BlackFriday and the possibility of getting those awesome discounts.

GOOGLE PLUS NOW A CHOICE

GooglePlus-Logo-Official

With Google+ Photos shutting down, and Google Photos taking over, Google made another major announcement about its social network, Google+. Google announced that your Google profile will no longer be your identity in all its products. Up until now, Google made it compulsory to have a Google+ account to access most of its products thereby making the underperforming social network have an inflated number of users.
This change will be trickling out “In the coming months,” and the first product to enjoy the change will be the one that was most negatively impacted by Google’s Google+ obsession: YouTube.
Bradley Horowitz, Google’s vice president of Streams, Photos, and Sharing, says the changes area  response to user feedback: “We’ve also heard that it doesn’t make sense for your Google+ profile to be your identity in all the other Google products you use.” He announced that a basic Google account will be all users need to share content, communicate with contacts, create a Youtube channel and so on. Unlike your public Google+ profile, your Google account is not searchable or followable.
In fact, if you already created a Google+ profile but don’t plan to use Google+, the company says it will “offer better options for managing and removing” your public profile. Horowitz says the changes are meant to strike a balance between the select few who actually like Google+, and everyone else who Google forced to sign up for its social network.

GOOGLE+ PHOTOS SHUTTING DOWN

Google announced on the July 21st, 2015, it’s plan to shut down its Google+ Photos service after the launch of Google Photos back in May.
“In an effort to ensure everyone has the best photos experience” it can deliver, Google will be shutting down Google+ Photos starting on August 1st, 2015. The Android app will be the first to go, and then the Web service and the iOS will follow.
No need to panic as your photos and videos will still be available through Google photos – simply download the new app or visit the Google Photos website to make the simple switch yourself. If Google Photos isn’t your cup of tea and you’d like to move your photos elsewhere, the company also reminds you that you can export all your content from the service using Google Takeout.
Following the acquisition of Picasa in 2004, offering photo storage through Picasa Web Albums, it was rumoured in 2011 that Google would rename the service “Google Photos” and offer unlimited storage.
Two years later, Google did make a big switch, but instead of launching Google Photos, it switched its online photo services over to Google+ Photos.

It took two more years, but Google finally did launch Google Photos and its unlimited storage (with resolution limits) in May 2015. If the original rumours back in 2011 were true, then switch from Picasa Web Albums to Google Photos was a trip that took four years and a detour through Google+ Photos.

With the recent release of the A6000 and A5000, I believe they would be hitting the market really big with that. When they got into the Nigerian market a few years back, I can remember telling my friends that it was just a matter of time before we all fall in love with the Lenovo phones and considering the unique design and feel of their phones, I think I might as well be fit to be called a soothsayer. WHATSAPP CALL ON ANDROID

It’s what we have all been waiting for. That cool feature that would not allow us burn our credit on calls again. It’s called the WhatsApp Call feature.
Having tested this feature and used it, I would say it is better than some VoIPs out there.
It’s quite easy to get it activated.
Just follow the few steps stated below.

GETTING THE FEATURE ACTIVATED

·         You must have the latest version of WhatsApp running on your device. I guess we all know how to do that.

·         Find a friend who has the feature activated to call you with it. You have to stay on the call for some seconds before it gets activated.

When I had my first call, I ended it almost immediately and as expected, it was not activated.
If you don’t have a friend to help you with the activation, you could give me a shout.

·         And that’s all.
You would see your WhatsApp homepage like this.

FACEBOOK AFTER DEATH: CHOOSE AN HEIR

Most people have always wondered what would happen to their social network accounts when they pass on. Facebook has got an answer to that. This is about what happens to your Facebook account when you move on to the other side.

The initial policy on the social network initially allows the deceased user’s family members submit a request to have their pages “memoralized,” but all that has changed now has users now have more control over their own post-mortem profiles.

This is how it works, don’t allow the thoughts of a ghost updating profiles from the other end or maybe a program posting for the deceased. Not at all.

Facebook allows the user to assign a “legacy contact” who will be given powers to decide what happens to the profile when the person moves on.

The legacy contact will be able to write a post that will be displayed at the top of the memoralized page’s timeline, respond to the user’s friend requests, and update their profile and cover photos.

This contact can also download a user’s photos posts and profile information as an archive, but like we all want, there would be restrictions, as they would not be able to post on your behalf, change your settings or view your private messages.

Also, the user can instruct Facebook to delete their accounts when they pass on.

This new feature can be done in your settings under “security”.

Currently it works only in the US and i guess it would soon be extended to other countries with other social networks taking a que from Facebook.

Remember to drop your comments.

SAVED INSTAGRAM VIDEOS

Streaming your most loved Instagram videos over again or trying to show a friend the coolest videos or the funniest videos in vogue takes a real chunk out of our data, it’s something we all get to bear the brunt and some of us end up not streaming those videos again.
Stumbled over this while playing with my phone some days ago and am not really sure whether it’s out there or not but anyways, I love the fact that I figured it out. To cut the story short, all videos you view on Instagram using your devices (Android) are saved on them, cool right. So I would simply be telling you guys where to find and how to view these rib cracking videos over and over and over and…

WHATSAPP ON PC

whatsapp-web-coming-secure-connection-new-details-emerge
WhatsApp has unveiled a new service on Wednesday giving users the option to exchange messages using a web browser.

It said the web client is an extension of our phone. The browser mirrors conversations and messages from our mobile devices which means all our messages live on our devices.
This new feature can be accessible via https://web.whatsapp.com, though currently it can only be accessed via Google Chrome browser.

To activate the service, users are prompted to scan a QR code which appears online onto their WhatsApp and you also have to have the latest WhatsApp running on your mobile device.

For this service to function, the user’s phone must remain connected to the Internet at all times and the messages will remain on the user’s phone.

Unfortunately for iPhone users, the desktop service is only accessible on Android devices.
This is a giant step taken by WhatsApp, I don’t really get the reason why the phone has to be connected to the Internet for this service to work, but this is just the first version, hope to get something better in latter versions.
So guys, what is  your take on this new development.

Does it sound great or unnecessary  (you might be wondering why you would want to chat on PC when you can do same on your phone)?

Your views please.

GOODBYE INTERNET EXPLORER

Microsoft, after a long time, about 20 years have decided to drop the Internet Explorer. Since the release of the Windows 8 Operating System, they have been trying to gain back the love of their customers. But I guess the over 20 years of winning and struggling to retain users would probably be coming to an end. Internet Explorer regarded by most as the slowest browser might be taking a bow out as Microsoft recently announced Spartan as the browser for Windows 10, which is their impending Operating System and also the next biggest thing for Microsoft.
Spartan has got some features that the Internet Explorer has not got which includes the fact that t is leaner, faster, and I also guess that have not seen people using Internet Explorer on Mobile phones except for those making use of Windows phone so I guess Microsoft also wants to get into the mobile market with this because it was also for designed for mobile. It has got close integration with Cortana, Microsoft’s voice – activated assistant, which would bring users relevant information like flight delays without even having to visit an airline’s website. Spartan’s has also got a note-taking mode which turns the web into a canvas, letting users scribble notes on live websites and send off them to friends, classmates, family and colleagues.
Since they are thinking of mobile, I guess we would be getting the new browser on other Operating System platforms.
This is a great step for Microsoft considering the fact that the Internet Explorer has been stigmatized. Carrying about the brand of being slow, not responsive and so on. If they had continued with the name, I don’t really thing they would have gained the heart of consumers has the name would still have been “Internet Explorer”.
I guess we all can’t wait to get our hands on this new browser so we can really say whether Microsoft has really change a whole lot.

Would like to get your response on this one guys, is this a good one from Microsoft.
