UPGRADING YOUR SAMSUNG S4 MINI TO KITKAT

Hey guys, its Pilstef and today we are going to be talking about upgrading the s4mini duos to KITKAT. I just did it on my phone so you don’t need to be scared as I  am going to take you through the step by step process of getting this done.
The s4 mini duos update has been around for sometime now but for some of us that check the update periodically to confirm whether it has been seeded , we continually get the annoying message that it is stocked with the latest upgrade meanwhile it is not. So here is what you are going to do to get the upgrade to KITKAT. Please follow my step to step process outline below
This update is only for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Duos model number GT –I9192, please confirm that is the model of your duos model before proceeding because I don’t think It would work for any other phone.

·        You don’t need to back up anything as it wouldn’t wipe out your memory as you may fear. So with that out of the way.
·        As usual, you need to enable debugging on your phone.
Ø Settings-More- Developer Options – USB Debugging
Ø For those of you who can’t find Developer Options there, you need to go under About Device and tap the Build number about 3 times. That would make it pop up.
·        Now, you have to download the KitKat update from the link below. It is I9192XXUCNG2
Ø The download link is here
Ø Just one thing, you have to have an account with Samsung Mobile before you can be able to download it. Note it is about 860mb

·        Also, you need to download Odin(Download here) which is about 400kb and also Samsung USB Driver(Download here) which is about 15mb.

Once those are downloaded, you can now proceed.
·        First of all, you need to install the Samsung USB drivers and Odin. Also extract the I9192XXUCNG2 tar.md5 file to maybe your desktop or anywhere for easy accessibility.

·        Now turn off your phone
·        Boot the phone in Download Mode which is by pressing the power button + home button + Volume down button.
·        Now open and launch Odin3 v3.09 on your computer
·        Connect your phone to your pc using the USB Cable
·        Wait for Odin to detect your phone
·        Click on AP Odin option
·        Make sure that ‘Re-Partition’ option is disabled (Un-tick it if it is ticked)
·        Do not tamper with other settings
·        Browse for and select the extracted I9192XXUCNG2 tar.md5 file.
·        After the installation is complete, you wait until Odin says ‘PASS’ before disconnecting your phone from PC.
·        The first booting would take some minutes so you have to be patient.

If you observe that you skipped a process while running this and the update does not go according to plan, just remove your battery and start all over again.

Also, I don’t know whether it was just with my phone alone but you might experience some glitching after the first boot, no cause for alarm, all you just need to do is to restart the phone.
Again, note, This update is only for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Duos model number GT –I9192, please confirm that is the model of your duos model before proceeding because I don’t think It would work for any other phone.
